Carl S. "Spike" Wallace, Jr., age 82, of Tampa, FL, formerly of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024 surrounded by family.
Born in Green Bay, WI in 1942, he was the son of the late Carl S., Sr. and Marian (nee Jones) Wallace. He graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in Stevens Point, WI and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin. He started his career teaching junior high school history/social studies for 7 years in Tomahawk, WI. Carl received his Master’s degree from George Washington University in Washington DC, and from there, went into the FBI where he spent 27 ½ years as a Special Agent. It was there that he met his wife, Maribeth, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. The remainder of his career was spent teaching history at Villa Maria Academy High School.
Those who knew Carl will remember his “Spikeisms”, humor, his love for the Green Bay Packers, the Cubs, history, current events, and politics. He enjoyed coaching little league and his daughter’s multiple basketball teams, Wisconsin trips, and spending weekends with his grandson, Brian “Little Spike,” who was the absolute light of his life.
Carl moved into Allegro Senior Living in Tampa, FL where he was very active in all events including water aerobics, poker, sing-alongs, performances, and nightly dinners with the “Rat Pack.” Throughout his life, Carl made friends everywhere he went, from students, to neighbors, to colleagues, and any fan of THE PACK.
Carl was the beloved husband of the late Maribeth (nee Sudfeld) Wallace; loving father of Andrea "Andy" Stecker and her husband Brian; adoring Poppy of Brian "Spike"; dear brother of Mary Green (the late Thomas); caring uncle and godfather of Timothy Green (Laura), and loving cousin of Helen Neitzel (Wayne), Kim Doering (Craig), Jason Doering (Pam), Cheryl Miller (John).
