Carl E. Chamberlain

November 19, 1945 — March 19, 2026

Carl E. Chamberlain, 80, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away March 19, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

Carl was born November 19, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA. and grew up in Pennsville, NJ. He was a son of the late Clarence and Doris (nee Evered) Chamberlain.

He was a dedicated scholar, completing his undergraduate at Waynesburg University and then went to the University of Pennsylvania to pursue advanced studies in statistics. Carl immediately went into the Insurance Industry and spent the entirety of his career there. He was with Cigna for 21 years, starting as an intern and then ended his career as Chief Underwriting Officer at AIG. Carl was not a fan of dress casual, always wearing a suit and tie to work….. and never the same one in a month (he owned over 40 of them).

Carl had a deep love for time spent in Ocean City, NJ (the “real” Ocean City), being with family, and cheering on his beloved Phillies. Always into math and statistics, Carl enjoyed puzzles, especially sudoku and he never met a Rubik’s Cube he couldn’t beat! He loved sunsets and taught us all about the color “sky blue and pink”. His yearly Easter egg hunts had his family fighting over the best egg prizes and the coveted $50 bill! He enjoyed music and loved playing the piano and in his later years would relax with a nice Merlot or Stoli on the rocks with 3 olives. Carl will be remembered for his sharp mind, steady presence, his sense of humor, $50 bills for the college students, Donald Duck impressions and the deep love he shared with those around him.

Carl was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. (nee Isabella) Chamberlain; loving father of Anthony George (Sandi), Michael George (Kathy), Jeff Chamberlain (Jill), and Katie Westerberg (Dan); adoring Pop-Pop of 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and dear brother of Dr. Bruce Chamberlain (Peggy).

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Maris Grove Chapel, 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342, followed by his Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Feel free to wear your favorite pair of crazy socks!

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org
