Bruce Milton Hinlein, 92, of West Chester, PA and formerly of Elkins Park passed away on October 18, 2020.
Born in South Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Milton J. and Reta Hinlein.
Bruce was a graduate of Cheltenham High School and Lehigh University. He was a champion wrestler and tennis player in both high school and college. He was a member of the Jr Davis cup team for tennis.
He served honorably in the US Navy during World War II and also in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Springlake Bath & Tennis, Manasquan River Golf Club and the Governor’s Club of Kiawah Island, SC. He served on the board for Lankenau Institute for Medical Research.
Bruce was the owner of Fleet Leasing Company and was recognized as one of the 25 most influential men in the automobile industry.
Bruce was the beloved husband of Claudia C. Johnson (née Churchill); loving father of Eve Shaw, Tony Hinlein, Liz Hinlein and Jeffrey Hinlein; devoted grandfather of Jordan Shaw, Gabby Shaw, Alexander Shaw and Benjamin Shaw; dear sister Joan Strauss.
He is also survived by his children by marriage, Jennifer Johnson Bernstein and Adrienne Johnson Beatty; his granddaughter by marriage, Valerie Beatty.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Mount Sinai Cemetery, 1901 Bridge St, Philadelphia, PA 19124.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Lankenau Hospital, 100 E. Lancaster Ave, Wynnewood, PA 19096.
