Bernard J. "Barney" Gallagher

Bernard J. “Barney” Gallagher, age 80, of Broomall, PA, passed away on October 22, 2022.  Born in Ballybofey, County Donegal, Ireland, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine Gallagher (nee Callaghan).   He was the 3^rd oldest of 7 children.  

Barney moved to England for employment where he met Kathleen, his wife.  They later moved to Philadelphia where they started their family.

Barney, known as an incredibly hard worker, had his own landscaping business, and worked for Acme Markets for over 30 years and was a member of Teamsters Local 169.  

He loved spending time with his family and friends, camping, attending dances at the Irish Center, and vacationing in Sea Isle City, NJ. 

As a Pop Pop, he was always playing with his grandchildren – throwing stones in the creek behind his house, playing games and even playing dominoes as he got older.  He was well liked by the residents and staff at Springfield Crossing because of his playful and joking nature and his singing of old Irish songs.

Barney was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen Gallagher (nee O’Grady).  He is survived by his loving children Ann Marie Gallagher, Patricia C. McGonigle (the late Martin), Brian J. Gallagher, Paul M. Gallagher (BethAnne), and Linda M. Quinlan (Gerard). Dear grandfather of 11 grandchildren.  Brother of Charlie Gallagher (Sheila), John Gallagher (Teresa), Bridie Gallagher, Marie Flanagan (John), the late Michael Gallagher (Mary who survives him) and the late Kathleen Hanlon (the late Kevin).  Also survived by his many nieces, nephews and extended members of the Gallagher and O’Grady Families.
