Barbara H. Riebe

Barbara H. Riebe of Broomall, PA, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on February 4, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of the late Abraham Hallett and Fanny Hallett (née Brodsky).

Barbara graduated from Upper Darby High School. She dedicated her professional life in her role as Office Manager with the University of Pennsylvania, where she was admired for her warmth, diligence and attention to detail. Beyond her career, Barbara truly embraced the simple pleasures in life. She had a deep love for travel, particularly to places like Carmel and Nantucket, where she made countless cherished memories. Whether exploring new destinations or enjoying a competitive game of bridge, Barbara always sought ways to live life to its fullest.

An avid reader, Barbara always had a good book by her side, finding joy in the stories that captivated her. She also took great pride in her garden, where she would spend hours tending to her plants with love, care, and patience. As a true dog lover, her home was filled with the unconditional love and companionship of her furry friends, adding an extra layer of joy to her everyday life.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Mark Riebe, as well as her brother, Howard Hallett, and his wife, Genevieve. She is survived by her devoted nieces and nephews: Diane H. Shedd (Robert), Steve (Laurie), and Greg (Nora); as well as several cherished great-nieces and nephews, including Robert Jr., Jenna, Gregory, Bridget, Stephen, and Andrew, and a beloved extended family of great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend Barbara’s viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by her Funeral service at 11:00 AM on. May 20, 2025, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Interment will follow at Mt. Sharon Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
