Barbara Lombardi

With heavy hearts, we honor the passing of Barbara (née Grosso) Lombardi, 71, of Downingtown, PA, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 21, 2024, after years’ long battle with cancer. 

Born in 1952, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (née Di Ruggiero) Grosso. She grew up in Nutley, NJ, and was a longtime resident of Bloomfield, NJ.

Barbara graduated from Nutley High School and was employed by the Postal Inspection Service for some time. But her most fulfilling career was as a paraprofessional for the Bloomfield School District for many years. Her passion, and natural gift, was helping and caring for children, especially those with special needs.

Barbara was a true inspiration to all and had a genuine enthusiasm for life and the people in it. Even in her most challenging years, she always continued to look at the positive side of life, regardless of the circumstance, always smiling and seeing the humor in things. She was the matriarch of her family, the glue that held everything together, and simply a beacon of light for everyone whose life she touched. Barbara treasured time with family and friends, especially time with her grandchildren.

Barbara was survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 51 years, Ronald Lombardi; children, Melissa Mari Lombardi-Parada (Dion Bender) and Danielle Rose Lombardi (Samuel Nunez, Jr); grandchildren, Gianna Mari Parada, Santino Parada, Cameron Joseph Lombardi-Nunez and Aiden Nicholas Lombardi-Nunez; brother, Joseph (Lorraine) Grosso; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and uncle, and countless friends who she considered among her chosen family.

Barbara will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her spirit and memories will live on by those dearest to her. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM, Saturday, February 10, 2024 followed by her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335 to remember and celebrate her life.
