Audrey Frances Herley (nee Moffitt) passed away peacefully on April 18 at the age of 85. She lived a long, rich life and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
A longtime resident of West Chester, PA, Audrey was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the oldest of two children to Cornelius and Eleanor Moffitt. She attended St. John Villa Academy High School and later met her husband, John Corbett Herley, while working in New York City. They married on June 15, 1963 at Our Lady of Angels church. John and Audrey lived in Brooklyn, later moving to Staten Island and raising their two daughters; relocating to West Chester, PA in 1976. Audrey was a longtime member of SS Simon & Jude Parish and enjoyed going to the West Chester Area YMCA for both the exercise and to socialize with the many friends she made there. Her laughter was contagious.
Audrey is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Herley; her daughters, Kathy Veith (Peter) of Wilmington, DE, and Colleen Gallagher (Geoff) of Thorndale, PA; and her five grandchildren: Ellie Veith, Will Veith, Megan Gallagher, Patrick Gallagher, and Brendan Gallagher. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Margaret Moffitt.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Audrey’s life on Friday, April 24, 2026 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a mass at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Audrey’s memory may be made to the Goshen Fire Company, 1320 Park Ave, West Chester, PA 19380.
The family extends their thanks to the staff at Holisticare Hospice and Arbor Terrace Exton for their care and compassion the past few weeks.
