Ann (“Nancy”) Louise Lanahan (nee Weiland) August 3, 1931 – June 22, 2025
Wayne, PA — Ann (“Nancy”) Louise Lanahan, age 93, of Wayne, PA, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 3, 1931, in Phoenixville, PA, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Frank and Helen (Martin) Weiland. She grew up in a home surrounded by her 4 older brothers and younger sister; all avid golfers. It was a home filled with love, faith, and devotion to family values that she carried with her throughout her life. Nancy attended Saint Ann’s Catholic School for her early education, followed by Mount Saint Joseph Academy and Rosemont College, where she completed her high school (1949) and college (1953) education, graduating with an art degree reflecting a life-long love for painting and the arts.
In 1954 after meeting on a blind date at Villanova, Nancy married her devoted husband, Anthony (“Tony”) Lanahan, in the very church where she was baptized and had attended school—Saint Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Phoenixville. Together, they raised a beautiful family while living in Rumson, NJ, Charlotte, NC, and Wayne, PA. Nancy was the proud mother of five children and cherished grandmother to 10 grandchildren, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and an unwavering devotion to her family. Even late in life a typical day would begin with daily mass at St. Katharine of Siena, followed by tennis or paddle tennis, on to watching her grandchildren compete in sports and ended with watching whichever local sports team was in season……..Villanova basketball, Eagles football and Phillies baseball were among her favorites. This deep passion for Philadelphia sports was happily passed down to her children and grandchildren. Late in life Nancy enjoyed joining the community at Brightview Senior Living where she continued her love for exercise, the arts and made great friends. All along Nancy delighted in the company of pets, especially dogs, from Saint Bernards, Nip and Tuck as a child on the Moore Hall farm in Phoenixville to Bebo, her live-in companion at Brightview.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Helen Weiland; her beloved husband, Anthony; her brothers, Frank Bader (“Chip”) Weiland (Catherine), Donald Martin (“Don”) Weiland (June), Peter John (“Pete”) Weiland (Marilyn), and Douglas James Weiland; her sister, Helen Marie (“Rie”) Noble (James); and her son-in-law, Douglas Gill.
She is survived by her children: Ann Gill, Ty Lanahan (Charlotte), Mary Schmittlein (Mike), Frank Lanahan (Tish), and Kathy Crager (Bill). Nancy’s legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Marty, Libby, Parker, Michael, Alex, Andrey, Will, Lily, Jane, and Katie, as well as her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 27th at 11AM at St. Katherine of Siena in Wayne to honor Nancy’s life and memory (Visitation is preceding at 10AM at the church).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Saint Katherine of Siena Church, 104 S. Aberdeen Ave., Wayne 19087 in Nancy's memory, continuing her tradition of service and faith.
