Andrew ‘Andy’ J F Pimley, Jr, 91 of Westtown, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Andy was born May 10, 1935, son to the late Andrew Pimley and Brigetta (nee McLaughlin) Pimley in Manoa PA, where he grew up with his three older sisters. Andy graduated from West Catholic High School where he enjoyed playing on the baseball team as a pitcher and developed many lifelong friendships.
In fact, one of those friendships led Andy to his future wife and lifelong love. Andy met Mary Anne, sister to one of his friends, at the Llanerch Diner, a frequent after school hangout. Andy famously swept Mary Anne off her feet with his famous pick-up line, “Hey Shorty, need a ride home?” From that point on, they were inseparable. Andy and Mary Anne married in 1958 and over their 64 years of marriage, built a wonderful life together. They were a loving couple who worked hard to take care of their family and cherished their home and neighborhood in Westtown. Andy loved watching sports, gardening and listening to music, especially from the big band era. If a Glen Miller tune was played at a wedding or special event, it was pure magic to watch Andy and Mary Anne dance the jitterbug.
Andy was a committed and loyal family man. He loved being a father and loved children and his wife and family were always the most important things in his life. Andy and Mary Anne watched with joy as their family grew over the years. After his six children, he was blessed to have 10 grandchildren also 7 great grandchildren. He adored having them gathered around and enjoyed telling and hearing family stories over Sunday dinners and holidays. Andy also loved spending time down the shore, where he and Mary Anne would bring family and friends together to enjoy time at the beaches, going fishing and creating lifelong memories together that they would speak about for years to come. If you knew Andy, you would remember his wry, self-deprecating sense of humor, his many funny faces and love of a good time. There was no greater joy than watching him shake with laughter as he held his belly.
After graduating high school, Andy enlisted in the Army and quickly shipped out for basic training where he attained the rank of Sargent as an artillery spotter. After returning from basic, Andy continued to serve in the Army reserves for many years. Meanwhile, he started working as junior broker and ‘runner’ for Merril Lynch carrying trade tickets to other brokers. Over his more than 30 years of work, Andy made a noteworthy career and a respected reputation as an investment banker in Philadelphia. Andy eventually became Vice President at First Boston Corporation in Philadelphia where he retired in 1990. He was known as a no-nonsense, straight shooter who valued honesty and relationships above all else. After retiring, he started a ‘second career’ helping his oldest son open a pharmacy in Honeybrook, PA. There, Andy would help with doing the books and making local deliveries to the residents and care facilities.
Andy was a devout in his faith as a Catholic. He and his wife attended Mass daily for many years and they often volunteered to be present at Adoration each week on the Church’s behalf. He spent time in prayer each day and had a special connection to St. Jude. Andy and his wife were also early, founding members of Ss. Simon and Jude Parish in Westtown. Over the years he remained actively engaged, sitting on the parish council, serving as a church usher, volunteering at the annual parish fairs and often providing input to parish leadership on church and school matters. Andy was a generous man with his family and friends, willing to help in his quiet way without credit or recognition. He supported many charities during his life, especially St Jude's Children's Hospital.
Andy is survived by his sons Mark A Pimley (Kimberly), Stephen C Pimley (Monica), Michael F Pimley (Martha) and James P Pimley (Maria) as well as his daughter, Maureen A (nee Pimley) Flaherty (James). He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Anne, his son, Thomas Pimley, parents, Andrew and Brigetta Pimley and sisters, Helen, Marie and Loraine.
A viewing and services will be held at Ss. Simon and Jude parish in Westtown on Saturday, November 7th, 2026.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, please consider a donation in Andy’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 474, Memphis, TN 38101-9958.
