Alice C. Shadell was born on November 21, 1939 and passed away on February 3, 2026. She was a beloved figure in the communities in which she lived. She developed many friendships in Los Angeles, Chicago, Boulder, Washington D.C., northern Virginia and Maryland. She earned a Master's Degree in English Literature. For many years, she taught in elementary and secondary schools.

Alice was a remarkable woman whose passions for literature, writing and music shaped not only her life but also the lives of those around her. A dedicated lover of literature, Alice was well-read and actively engaged in numerous book and writing clubs throughout her life. Her vibrant spirit shone as she shared her insights and enthusiasm with fellow members, inspiring many to explore the depths of storytelling and the power of words. In her later years she found fulfillment as an independent tutor and editor (both in person and on zoom). She nurtured the minds of aspiring learners with her patient guidance and expertise.

Having lived in various states due to her work and education, Alice embraced the experiences and connections that each new location offered. She became well-acquainted with the nuances of diverse communities, bringing with her a keen interest in politics that sparked captivating discussions among her peers. Alice's interests extended beyond the written words; she had an enduring passion for music that resonated through her soul. This love added a rich layer to her life.

Alice will be deeply missed by her surviving sisters, Sister Kathleen Shadell OSF, and Barbara Shadell. Her legacy lives on through her niece and nephews, as well as her great nephews. She enjoyed sharing many stories about her adventures and accomplishments.

Alice is preceded in death by her loving parents, James P. and Kathryn A. (nee Dersam) Shadell and her sisters, Mary Dumps and Eileen Foster. The memories of her warmth, kindness and passion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
