Albert J. Gavetti

Albert “Al” J. Gavetti, age 79, passed away on August 27, 2026, with Sue by his side.

He is the beloved son of Ida Mae (Clineff) and the late Albert J. Gavetti, Sr.

Born in Ridley Park, Al grew up in Glenolden, PA, where he attended Interboro Schools and formed lifelong friendships. In 1971, he moved to Ridley Township and became a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Helps Church.

Al began his career at Boeing in January 1966, where he dedicated himself to union work, holding various positions such as shop steward, recording secretary, financial secretary, and president. In 2000, he became an international representative for the United Auto Workers (UAW) until his retirement in 2010.

After retiring, Al immersed himself in his love for classic cars, participating in car shows and owning notable vehicles like a '34 Ford three-window coupe and a '70 Chevelle Super Sport, a ‘67 Nova and a ’37 Ford Slant Back. A memorable moment was his participation in the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour. Al also treasured time spent in Cape May with family and friends from the UAW. He enjoyed taking his wife, Sue, to line dancing events in South Jersey, where she danced, and he enjoyed the company of new friends.

Al was passionate about the Phillies, the Eagles, fishing, Lionel trains, and Doo Wop music.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne T. Gavetti; his children, Michael D. (Patricia), Albert J. III (Rosemary), and Anthony J. (friend, Jacklyn); and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexandria, Jessica, Chelsea, Melissa, and Rebecca. He is also survived by his sisters, Sally Van Atter (David) and Michelle Fitzpatrick (John).

"Poppi" will be dearly missed by many, especially Alexandria and Nicholas, who shared cherished moments such as lunch dates, shopping, school events, and decorating many Christmas trees while watching Polar Express. Christmas was always special, as Al was a big kid at heart.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Mainline Health Homecare and Hospice, Lankenau, and Riddle Hospital for their exceptional care and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to Albert's Viewing on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 8:45 AM to 10:15 AM at The Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Ave, Morton PA followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel, 2130 Franklin Ave, Morton, PA. Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
