Agnes W. Speer

Agnes W. Speer (née Woods), 98, of West Chester, PA, passed away on August 24, 2022.

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Mamie (née Erwin) Woods.

Agnes was the beloved wife of the late Edgar F. Speer Sr.; loving mother of Edgar F. Speer Jr. (Agnes) and John Alex Speer; adoring grandmother of Catherine Speer (Beth Terry), Bernadette Speer-Gibson (Alan), Mary Schmidt (Matt), Edgar F. Speer III (Emily) and Thomas A. Speer (Kelly); great-grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren; dear sister of Paul Woods. Predeceased by siblings; Erwin Woods, William Woods and George Woods.

Agnes was a 1942 graduate of John Bartram High School in Southwest Philadelphia and the oldest living alumna of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1945.

Agnes served honorably as a Second Lieutenant Nurse in the US Army during World War II.

Agnes was a Registered Nurse at Riddle Hospital for many years. She loved her Church quilting group with Middletown Presbyterian Church. She was active with Aston Community Center, where she enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and doing Arts & Crafts. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA followed by her Funeral Service 10:30 AM. Interment Private.
