Adina Eliza Brooks Bishop

Adina Eliza Brooks Bishop went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2026 at 105 years young. Adina was born on March 30, 1921 in Roatan Honduras and grew up and was raised in La Ceiba Honduras.

Adina came to the US in 1958 and settled in The Bronx, NY, while working as a housekeeper. Adina was married to the late Louis Bishop on May 13, 1970 at which time she moved to New Orleans, LA. Adina worked as a housekeeper and was a faithful member of the St. James Methodist Church. Adina retired in 1997 and moved to Morton, PA in 2006 as a result of hurricane Katrina.

Adina was the matriarch of her family and she imparted wisdom and love to all of them and everyone who knew her. Adina made sure that her family stayed connected and encouraged them to live positive and hopeful Christian lives. Adina's nurturing spirit, wise counsel and humor filled the lives of her family, friends and everyone she encountered with joy. It was truly a blessing and honor to know and be loved by her.

Adina is survived by her nieces Karen Zelaya-Kendall of Cardiff by the Sea, CA, Adellee Brown and husband Richard of Miami, FL, nephews Cecil Brooks and wife Sandra of the Bronx, NY, Samuel Brooks and wife Jolean of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Hemersteen Brooks and wife Hilda of Miami, FL, John Brooks and wife Glenny of Frederica, DE, Earl Zelaya and wife Shornee of Farmingdale, NY, grandnieces Kabriana Kendall of Cardiff by the Sea, CA, Shirley Franklin and husband Francis of Hempstead, NY, Ginger Miller and husband William of Accokeek, MD, grandnephew Byron Baine and wife Lebeedah of Hempstead, NY and a host of great grandnieces, great grandnephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to Adina’s Viewing from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 24th at The Knoetgen Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Ave, Morton, PA 19070, followed by her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM.

The family will also be having Funeral Services in New Orleans, LA on Friday, October 30th where Adina’s final resting place will be.
