A. Claire Maguire

A. Claire Maguire (nee Breckin), age 95, of Havertown, PA, passed away on November 27, 2022.Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Breckin (nee O’Neill).

 

Claire had been employed as an Executive Secretary at The Deveraux Foundation for many years. She was a long time member of The Sacred Heart Women’s Sodality and The Sacred Heart Social Club. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and solving the Daily Crossword, which she proudly did in ink. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening. She had a dry sense of humor, was a resilient and independent woman, and beyond proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

 

Claire was the beloved wife of the late John A. Maguire, Sr.Loving mother of her 7 children: Claire Ryan (Marty), John A. Maguire (Cindy), James Maguire (Janet), Kathleen Sheehan (Brian), Maura Watmuff (John), Beth Anne Pacera (Jim) and the late Sharon A. Pauze. She is survived by her 20 grandchildren: Matthew Ryan, Michael Ryan, Joseph Ryan, Daniel Ryan, Katherine Ryan,Maura Pauze, Chelsea Van Osten, Kelly Maguire, Meghan Maguire, James Maguire, Maureen Maguire, Brian Sheehan, Lauren Sheehan, John Sheehan, Emily Sheehan, John T. Watmuff, Kimberly Griffith, Neve Pacera, Jack Pacera and Noah Pacera. Also survived by her 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Christian Steven Maguire, her brother, Charles Breckin and her sister, Lois Gibbs.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Wednesday, December 7, 2022 9:15 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Avenue, Havertown, PA and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.  

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Catholic Charities would be appreciated.
