Robert McCullough

May 9, 1955 — November 10, 2020

Robert Emmett “Rob” McCullough, age 65, of Upper Darby, PA, formerly of Havertown, PA, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2020 surrounded by family.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the devoted son of the late Emmett P. and Margaret T. McCullough (nee Dunne).

Rob was a proud 1973 graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1977 from Villanova University.   As a graduate of two Augustinian institutions, Rob lived out the values of that tradition including a commitment to truth, unity, and love.

For many years, Rob worked as a Claim Supervisor and Specialist for several national insurance companies including 26 years for Ohio Casualty and most recently Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc.  Rob worked closely with lawyers and consultants across the country to resolve complex litigation matters and was well regarded in his profession.

Rob was a loving, devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.   He is survived by his children Dan McCullough (Theresa) and Teresa McCullough (Jim Calvarese) and his grandchildren Hailey, Jackson, Owen and Maddie.  Also survived by his siblings James McCullough (Marilyn), Kevin McCullough (Elizabeth Sands), Maureen McCullough, Karen Emhof (Bill), Jeannine McCullough (Dan Fiorella), Christine McCullough (John McDevitt) and Tim McCullough (Maggie) and many loving nieces and nephews.   Family was what mattered most to Rob whether it centered around small gatherings with his children and grandchildren or large family celebrations with siblings, their spouses and many nieces and nephews

Rob was a caring and giving person who was always available to help anyone in need.  He was a positive person who tried to see the good in everyone. He always had a compliment to lift your spirit or bring a smile to your face.   He had a keen, quick wit and leaves us with many great stories that he shared over the years.  He was also a wise man who offered counsel and advice to many.

Rob had a love for travel and traveled extensively across the US and Europe with his siblings and friends.  He had a deep love for music of all kinds but especially loved Van Morrison.

In his free time, Rob was passionate about golf and enjoyed a competitive game of tennis, but perhaps one of his greatest loves was spending late afternoons on the Avalon beach with his family.
