Jeannie Latimer

May 16, 1953 — October 13, 2018

Jeannie Latimer (nee Carpenter) was born on May 16, 1953. She was a long-time resident of the West Chester and Downingtown area. Jeannie passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13th after a long struggle with cancer. She was supported by her family and close friends in her last few days. Jeannie was a caring, empathetic woman who always wanted to be there for others.

Jeannie earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from West Chester University and worked as a therapist, allowing her to help individuals reach emotional wellness. In her effort to support individuals and communities, Jeannie went on relief trips to New Orleans to help residents after Hurricane Katrina. She spent time learning about mindfulness and meditation so she could continually work towards self-improvement. Jeannie was a great lover of nature and animals. She and her husband, Paul, loved to take long walks with her dog, Daisy. She embraced technology and spent time working in the IT field before transitioning to mental health. Jeannie was also passionate about music. She earned her undergraduate degree in Music, majoring in piano performance, and studied the violin and the oboe as well. Jeannie didn't cook that often, but when she did, it was enough to feed a village. Jeannie's favorite food was an old classic: mashed potatoes. And of course, she loved the Philadelphia Eagles and could shout at the TV with the best of them.

Jeannie is survived by devoted husband, Paul Latimer, his daughter, Lori Latimer, and her husband, Frank Garrett; her son, Adam Carpenter, and his wife, Krista Carpenter; and her son, Tim Carpenter, and his wife, Niki Carpenter. She loved her family and friends immensely. Adam and Tim meant the world to her.

The family will hold a viewing on Wednesday, October 17th from 7 - 9 PM as well as memorial service on Thursday, October 18th from 11 AM - 12 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335, 610-269-3080. Friends and family are welcome to speak and share memories of Jeannie during the memorial.
