MaryAnne Becker

April 23, 1946 — October 11, 2021

MaryAnne T. Becker (née McGettigan), 75, of West Chester, PA passed away on October 11, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1946, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Kathleen M. (née Sweeney) McGettigan.

She was a graduate of Annunciation BVM Catholic Elementary School and Archbishop Prendergast High School and studied education at Gwynedd Mercy University.

MaryAnne taught Catholic school for over ten years at the parishes of Annunciation BVM and St. Andrew. She then earned her real estate license and worked over forty years in the field, first as a residential agent earning multiple awards and accreditations, then transitioned to new construction where she spent the remainder of her successful career as a real estate sales manager for numerous area builders.

Her favorite thing in life was enjoying precious time with her family. She encouraged and supported her daughters in their exciting endeavors, treasured the sleepovers with her grandchildren and unconditionally loved her sisters and brothers. She adored going to weekly dinners and movies with her husband, Dennis, singing every chance she could get, dancing, entertaining and spending time in her lifelong beach town of Strathmere, NJ. She loved making people laugh and feel loved.

She was a long time parishioner of St. Agnes Church in West Chester. She will be remembered for her deep devotion to her Catholic faith, her stunning sense of style, sharp wit, excellent advice, unparalleled work ethic, ubiquitous generosity, and her true gift for storytelling.

MaryAnne was the beloved wife of Dennis Sheedy; loving mother of Kate Walton (Todd), Meghan Passarelli (Robert), Nikole Assarsson (Erik), and Christina MacRae (Iain); devoted grandmother of Chandler, Christian, Jack, Isabella, Alex, Scarlett and Audrey; dear sister of Kathleen Scoboria (Preston), Susan Moock (the late James), Dolores Conallen (Michael), Patricia Harkins (Michael), John McGettigan (Doreen), Nancy Paterni (Dave) and Michael McGettigan (the late Margaret). Also survived by many treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Robert; brother-in-law, James; sister-in-law, Micki; aunts, Doris, Adele and Mary; uncle Nick; first mother-in-law, Eleanor; sister-in-law, Kathleen; nephew, John; mother-in-law Anna; and father-in-law Dan.
