Gloria Yervelli

November 7, 1930 — November 28, 2020

Gloria J. (nee Babiero) Yervelli, 90, of Downingtown, PA and formerly of Wayne, PA, passed away on November 28, 2020.

Born in Bryn Mawr, PA in 1930, Gloria was the daughter of the late Tomasso and Philomena Babiero. She always spoke her mind and her family took her sassiness with a smile on their face and a shake of the head. Gloria enjoyed following Philly sports teams and would often have a game on the TV and one on the radio next to her. She spent her Sunday nights playing Bingo at the IAC club. Most of all, Gloria loved spending time with her family and was always there to lend a helping hand. Shopping on Saturdays, getting nails done, or having lunch or dinner with her was always a treat, just to spend time together.

Gloria was a skilled cook and her specialty was Sunday meatballs and “gravy” for family get-togethers. She liked to bake and taught her grandchildren to make Crispells and her famous strawberry shortcake that everyone always asked for. In addition to cooking, Gloria was a great crafter; she had her own kiln for firing ceramics. Gloria knitted cardigans for every family member and sewed adorable matching outfits and prom dresses for her girls, but drew the line at wedding dresses, claiming it would be bad luck. She spent summers by the pool with her family and went on vacation to the Jersey shore with her whole extended family. Gloria was a devoted grandma and great-grandmom and gave the warmest hugs. She spoiled her grandchildren at Christmas, making sure they had THE Christmas gift each year, including flying for the first time to take her granddaughter to Disney World.

Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Louis J. “Rusty” Yervelli; loving mother of Linda Thomas (Bob), Denise Cottell (Mark), the late Thomas Yervelli, Sr. (Heather), and the late Mary Lou McMahon; caring grandmother of Kimberly Barnhouse (Erik), Tom Yervelli, Jr. (Carla), Grace Rice (Kevin), Mary Lou Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas, Robert Thomas, Jr., and great-grandmother of Giana, Chase, Cooper, Charleston, and Carmine; predeceased by her siblings, Louise, Mary, Josephine, Edith, Rachel, and John.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Graveside Service 1:30 PM Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Calvary Cemetery, 235 E. Matsonford Road, Conshohocken, PA 19428.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Place, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852, would be appreciated.
