David Maida

July 10, 1981 — October 15, 2021

On October 15, 2021, David J. Maida, lover of all things, passed away at the age of 40. David was born in Philadelphia, graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1999, grew up in Upper Darby and most recently resided in Broomall, PA.

David was the son of late John A. Maida and late Gloria A. Pilkington (nee Wesolowski). David was the beloved husband of Kim Lien Maida (nee Pham); loving father of Noah (14) and Jacob (12); son-in-law of Yen and Ket Pham; stepson of the late Richard Pilkington;  half-brother of Rebecca and Sarah Pilkington; cousin/brother of Kate (Anthony) Nardini and Bernadette Maurizi; nephew of Josephine and Joseph Maurizi, Maria and Don Martin, William and Margaret Wesolowski; Joyce and Gilles Racicot; cousin of Brian (Lisa) Wesolowski, Beth (Bill) Mack, Cathy (Stanley) Rogaski and Stephen Racicot; brother-in-law of Kim-Loan Gotto, Kim-Lieu Pham, Long Pham and Liem Pham. Also survived by a grandmother-in-law, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Katherine Maida and maternal grandparents, Stanley and Stella Wesolowski.

David loved his family, being with his boys and cheering them on during their sports games and everything they did in life. He enjoyed cooking, nature, animals, music, art, books, and you might have also seen him riding his bike down West Chester Pike. After high school, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii. He served in the United States Navy and fought for his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was also an active and proud member of the Community Lodge # 744 Free and Accepted Masons.

Whether you knew David for 10 years or 10 minutes, David could always find a way to spark up a conversation. In his memory, we ask that you pick up the phone or schedule time to meet up with a friend or family member you haven't spoken to in awhile and just talk. You never know what people are going through and just hearing your voice may bring a smile to someone who really needs it.
