Charles Stonier, Jr.

September 15, 1934 — September 22, 2020

Charles Francis “Chuck” Stonier, Jr., age 86, of Blue Bell, PA, passed away ‘his way’ September 22, 2020.

Born in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late Charles F., Sr. and Dorothy (nee Keeney) Stonier.

Chuck was the beloved husband to the love of his life, Eileen Dever Stonier; the loving father of Celeste Hallahan, Julia DiCarlo (Amedeo), Eileen Burns (Steven), Charles F. Stonier, III, Dorothann White (Joe); loving Papa of Charles Hallahan (Lisa), Brittany Silver (John), Kelcey Silver, Michael DiCarlo, Mario DiCarlo, Christopher Hallahan, Creighton Hallahan, Jacob White and Abigail White.  He was the great-grandfather of Charlie, Aria and Ryan Hallahan. He was step-father of Donna Dever, Stephen Dever, Kim Dougherty (Matt), Tricia Dever, Brad Dever (Coleen) and Ed Dever (Colleen) and step-grandfather of Taylor, Bradley, Sarah, Sonia, Brendan, Sean, Blake, Brent, Jackie, Mark, Ryan, Danny, Chase, Mikayla, Julia and Christina.  Chuck was predeceased by his brother, Philip K. Stonier and grandson, Joseph Tyler “Joey” White.

Chuck’s early years were spent in Bridgeport, where he was known as “Charlie”, “Chal” or “La”.  His days were spent playing “ball” and sledding with his brother, cousins, and friends.  He was 7 years old when Pearl Harbor was attacked. By the time World War II ended in 1945, Chuck was 11 years old. The War and its impact on American culture had greatly shaped him.  He was a proud patriot and an avid lover of American history and the flag.

Chuck was a graduate of West Catholic High School and Villanova University. Following graduation from Villanova in 1956, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.  After the service, he embarked on a long and storied career in the printing, direct mail, and IT industries.  He believed in the American dream and started his own company in the late 70’s.  He was a firm but fair employer and enjoyed sharing his success with his employees and the community.

While much of his life was defined by his career and providing for his family, he found time for several hobbies.  He was an avid reader, Lionel train enthusiast, enjoyed his golf game, the beauty of thoroughbred horse racing, all Philadelphia sports teams, especially his Villanova Wildcats.  He gave back to the community coaching youth sports; founded and served as President of the St. Titus Parent Teacher Committee.

Many will fondly remember him as wonderful storyteller, able to captivate a room with his wit and words of wisdom.

He loved the ocean and spending time at the south Jersey shore with his family.  He enjoyed traveling to the coast of Maine, with Eileen the love of his life.

In his later years he loved selecting and reading books to his grandchildren and attending their school and sporting events. Chuck and Eileen created special memories for their children and grandchildren hosting family parties and holidays.

He was one of kind, lived life to its fullest, ‘his way’ and will be dearly missed.
